Promoting growth and regeneration of skin tissue with applications of pulsed magnetic therapy. The effect on the main skin cells (keratinocytes) explains the study (Vianale et al., 2008) in which the research team was focusing on the mechanisms that promote cell growth in the skin.

Therapeutic effects of pulsed magnetic therapy caused almost immediate reduction in the activity of NF-κB protein complex. On the other hand, the reduction in the activity of this complex was gradual and very slow in the control group.

NF-κB is responsible for cytokine production and cell survival. It also controls the transcription of DNA and is involved in the cellular responses to stress, cytokines (also chemokines), free radicals, bacterial or viral antigens, UV irradiation and oxidized low-density lipoproteins (i.e. bad cholesterol in the blood).

The study found that pulsed magnetic therapy significantly improves skin repair and growth, increases proliferation of skin cells and also reduces production of chemokines, thereby limiting the inflammatory processes.
