Characteristics of cerebral palsy: Cerebral palsy is a disorder of the central regulation and development of mobility resulting from damage to the immature brain during early development, before, during or soon after birth. In some cases of cerebral palsy, we observe mental disorders, nervous seizures, sensory defects, communication disorders, sensational disorders, and others. These disorders can be combined, but one of them is usually enhanced.
Cerebral palsy mainly includes cases with prevailing mobility disorders. Cerebral palsy is manifested by various forms and disorders and develops gradually during the second to third year of life. This is influenced by brain development and function. Even after the third year of life, various forms of the disease may change in terms of their symptoms, or transform from one to another. Cerebral palsy should not be confused with poliomyelitis (polio).
Using magnetic therapy in cerebral palsy
We distinguish between spastic and non-spastic forms of cerebral palsy. Low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy with Biomag induces normotonia in these conditions. It is necessary to begin therapy immediately after the diagnosis, very often already during infant age. Excellent outcomes of magnetic therapy in cerebral palsy were described in the 1980s by Dr. Chvojka, for example, in patients with atrophy of the nerve nuclei in the anterior horns of the spinal cord.
Application of magnetic therapy in cerebral palsy
In cerebral palsy, we recommend low-frequency pulsed magnetic therapy with a Biomag device applied on a long-term basis and repeatedly to the entire spine and head and all parts of the body where muscle contractions are present, at a frequency range of 2-25 Hz. In non-spastic forms of cerebral palsy, the treatment should be alternated with stimulating frequencies of 50-81 Hz. Flat and solenoid applicators are suitable.
